Which analysis is more important? Technical or Fundamental?

Hey everyone, I’m 21 and I’ve known about Forex since I was 17, but only recently started diving into it seriously. I’ve got a question for the more experienced traders out there: in your opinion, which type of analysis is more important—technical or fundamental?

I’m asking because I see a lot of YouTubers and ‘gurus’ who make it seem like you just draw a few lines, mark support/resistance, and boom—you’re making 10k a day and living in Dubai :joy:. But I know it’s not a ‘get rich quick’ thing and that it takes hours and hours of learning.

I’ve been listening to Mark Douglas and Dr. David Paul, so I feel like I’m on the right path in terms of trading psychology (fear, greed, overconfidence, etc.). Just curious to hear your thoughts on whether one type of analysis is more important than the other, or if both are equally important? Appreciate your insights!

I’d say technical analysis. Focus on:

  • Timeframe confluences
  • Change of Character on lower timeframes
  • Trading psychology & discipline
  • Risk management
  • Understanding basic pair correlations
  • Backtesting

We usually don’t backtest fundamental news—it’s mostly technical analysis.

For day trading and swing trading, technical analysis is key.

Fundamental analysis becomes more important if you’re doing long-term or position trading.

Yeah, maybe it’s best to split traders into T.A. (Technical Analysis) and F.A. (Fundamental Analysis) traders.

But honestly, both are important if you want to be a ‘consistently profitable trader,’ or like a professional retail trader, right?
