Rant: Studied forex intensively since 2018 still not profitable

Hello, I’ve been studying forex since 2018 and I’m still not profitable. :pensive: I feel close but just can’t make the cut. I’ve taken dozens of courses from Baby Pips to ICT paid mentorship.

Consistently being profitable feels elusive, and I’m very discouraged. I have proper R/R ratios, risk management, and only risk 1% per trade. My strategy looks good in backtesting, but I keep hitting losing streaks.

I’ve spent so much time on this, with giant binders and notebooks full of notes. It feels like a scam at this point.

Can anyone truly be profitable in forex? These “gurus” seem like they’re just stealing money from desperate people. I’m so fed up. Is there anyone out there who’s actually making it work?

When I first started trading, I experienced what many call “analysis paralysis.” I was overwhelmed by strategies, books, and courses, which only added to my confusion. Eventually, I decided to abandon all of that and focus solely on risk management and price action.

I began my trading journey around 2017-2018, and it wasn’t until the end of 2021 that I started seeing consistent profits. The initial losses were tough; every trade seemed to go wrong, and I’d often get stopped out for entering too early.

My turning point came when I drastically reduced my trade sizes to 0.01 lots. This allowed me to enter the market and patiently observe how it reacted at specific levels and times.

The most valuable lesson I learned was never to trade against the trend. If the market is bearish, only take bearish trades; if it’s bullish, stick to bullish trades.

It’s also important to be realistic about your gains. While many dream of making huge profits, aiming for 0.5% to 1% per week is much more attainable and sustainable for most traders.

Ultimately, trading is a mental game, and your tolerance for losses plays a significant role. Watching your money disappear can be a wake-up call. To succeed in this profession, you must leave behind any nonsense and emotional baggage.

Good luck!

I understand your current situation very well because I went through a similar period of frustration a few months ago. Although I’m still not making a profit, I sense that I’m getting very close. There are so many aspects to consider such as our thoughts, mindset, attitude, and numerous other factors.
