I have a friend that says her account was hacked and they changed all the details and withdrew the money from her account. Is that possible with forex?
Let me guess. You gave this person your money to trade and you’d get a percentage of profit. She got hacked and no longer has your money.
Possible, sure. Did it actually happen? Hell no, it didn’t.

I’m betting you’re spot on.

Yup. Basically a scam to take money away from you.
What do you mean with forex? It depends on your broker. You can be trading whatever.
Security will probably be different broker to broker, but you can never rule out social engineering. It’s less likely that they were hacked and more likely they gave their info away somehow. It happens to literally anything with a login. It’s rare but possible. However, I would usually lean toward the most likely possibility: they blew up an account and are too embarrassed to come clean. This is just my opinion, but I would always assume they messed something up before being hacked unless their password is dumb AF. I’m not in cybersecurity or anything; this is just my feeling about it.
I’ll find more details out on it from her.
Most brokers have very strict rules about withdrawal. For instance, they only allow withdrawal to the same account from where you made your deposit. The account also must have the same name as your registered name, etc.
So when a “hacker” changes the payout account, most likely the broker won’t approve the withdrawal.
Hacking a forex account is possible, but withdrawing money will only go to her account. Brokers do not allow changes to account details exactly for this reason: to protect the client in case of a hack.
What I know is you can’t, and almost all the brokers send the withdrawal money to the same bank account that it came from. Hmmmm, is she asking you for money?!
