Are any of you religious/christian? How do you balance trading with your religion?

Listen please don’t flag or report this post, I’m not trying to convert anybody or make this subreddit religious. I really like it as it is.

I’m asking because I’m trying to get into forex (as a side hustle) but I fear it’ll overwhelm me and steer me away from my beliefs.

Does anyone here manage to balance their personal and religious life with their professional one?

That’s a good point. He may just have negative views about money and sees Forex as different from a job, which it isn’t.

Your religion shouldn’t prevent you from learning a skill that generates income. I don’t think they correlate at all.

Welcome to the club. I don’t consider myself religious, but I am spiritual. I grew up in a Christian home and have Christian friends.

If you cherish something more than money, it will work out for you. Those who idolize money often let trading consume them. Forex might feel addictive at first, and you might lose money initially. But experiencing challenges can strengthen your connection to God.

Pray and keep your view of money in check; it’s merely a tool. It has no real value except for what people assign it. God is bigger than any amount of money. Losing it hurts, and winning feels good, but remember it’s just a means to help you fulfill your purpose.

After 15 years of trading, I can lose and still find happiness because life is precious, and God is great. Best of luck in your journey!

It’s not money that’s the root of all evil; it’s the love of money. As long as you understand the difference, you should be fine.

Thank you. It’s annoying when people say ‘money is the root of all evil’ but leave out that important part.

Absolutely, people misuse biblical quotes by not providing context to fit their narratives.

Look into Constantin Brâncoveanu, who traded money to pay tribute to the Turks so Romania could remain a Christian nation. It’s not about the money; it’s about the purpose behind its use.

Trading is only forbidden in Islam.

I believe in God and strive to align my trading attitude with my beliefs. I’m wary of the worship of money. Each person’s relationship with their belief is deeply personal.

As long as you are working to enrich your life, there shouldn’t be an issue. You might find fulfillment in other aspects of life.

I love this post. I’ve always believed in Christianity but never preached it. I got into spirituality, which led me to trading, resulting in a spiritual awakening as I worked hard at it. Along with this work, I became more devoted to God and improved myself. The challenges I’ve faced during this journey taught me to maintain my faith in God, regardless of the outcomes. Keep your faith strong, and God will guide you through it. Good luck!

Yes, I don’t see a conflict. The discipline I develop as an Orthodox Christian aids my trading. I just ensure I don’t become obsessed with the monetary aspect, apart from making a living.

I’m Christian, and I promised God to use the money I earn from trading to help the needy. I’ve researched organizations I’d like to support.

It’s currency trading; what’s the problem? Last time I checked, the church has done its fair share of money-grabbing throughout the centuries without any qualms.

Learning about the forex market’s existence is a great way to start.

How does this differ from investing in superannuation, a 401k, or purchasing stocks? You don’t buy these things expecting they won’t generate income.

I am Catholic and help with children’s organizations. The best way to balance trading is to view it as either a job or a hobby. Never prioritize it above God. If you’re worried about greed, that’s a different issue. Personally, mastering forex has allowed me to be a better Christian through increased ability to help others. Ultimately, money is just part of market dynamics.

Catholic and helping with kids’ programs is quite a mix.

Indeed, I understand the stereotype. The issue arises when some misuse religion for personal gain, similar to politics.
